Give a Gift that Makes a Difference in our Community

Dear Friend,

This December is a special time for Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services (SCES), as we mark 50 years of supporting the independence and dignity of our older neighbors. From humble beginnings, we have grown to offer a wide range of programs that help with challenges of aging, caregiving, and disability.

I am writing today to request your support for this vital work. As a mission-driven non-profit, we have several programs that rely on local support to meet critical needs.

One example is Little Necessities, which gives us flexibility to meet essential needs that are not covered by government programs. A new mattress after a bedbug infestation; a microwave for someone who can no longer cook due to memory loss; a gift card to purchase emergency groceries. These are just few examples of how Little Necessities makes a difference in our community.

Your tax-deductible gift allows us to provide help where it is needed most. This year we are grateful that The Cambridge Trust is generously matching the first $5,000 of donations in response to our holiday appeal, and The Harvard University Employees Credit Union is also matching the first $2,500 of donations. Together, we can give a gift that will make a difference in our community throughout 2023 and beyond.

On behalf of everyone at SCES, please accept my best wishes for a happy, healthy holiday season.

Sincerely,

Marta Corvelo
