June is Pride Month, and Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services (SCES) is inviting you to join with us in doing a little something extra for our LGBTQ+ friends.
For most of the past 12 years, SCES has hosted a monthly dinner called Kate’s Café, which provides food and a space to socialize for LGBTQ+ elders, their friends, and caregivers.
The café was on hiatus during the pandemic, but returned this spring. That’s the good news. The bad news is that costs of the event continue to rise. We are looking at long-terms answers for this trend, but right now, we’re asking everyone to pitch-in to support the Pride celebration at Kate’s Café.
By donating $23, you can buy dinner for one of our guests at Kate’s Café. In addition to providing a meal, you are helping SCES maintain this great event and ensure that disposable income doesn’t become a barrier for those would like to participate.
Kate’s Café was established in 2010 and is named in honor of longtime SCES Elder Care Advisor Kate Thomas. SCES staff has already stepped up with more than a dozen donations for the June café. Will you join us in supporting this great event?
