Seeking Trailblazer Stories for Older Americans Month

May is Older Americans Month, and Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services (SCES) is marking the occasion with a story contest that highlights the contributions of older adults in our communities.

Older Americans Month Logo

Older Americans Month serves to remind us of the important achievements of older Americans. “Blaze a trail” is the theme for Older American’s Month this year, and we want stories about older adults who are reinventing themselves. Whether it’s volunteering, traveling, working, raising a family, creating, advocating or something else altogether—SCES wants to highlight how older adults contribute to society and make our communities a better place to live.

Submissions should be 500 words or less, and bonus points for a great accompanying photo. Submissions are due May 20, with the winners announced on May 27. Winners will receive a certificate of appreciation, with the grand prize winner having their story published by SCES.
