The Cambridge Savings Charitable Foundation has donated $10,000 to support Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services (SCES) Nutrition programs.

The funds will benefit low-to-moderate income individuals and families through SCES Nutrition programs.

SCES Nutrition programs support food security and good health through Meals on Wheels, Congregate Meals, Nutrition Counseling, and other programs. Roughly two-thirds of the older adults from Cambridge and Somerville receiving nutrition assistance are economically disadvantaged, noted SCES CEO Marta Corvelo.

“We are so grateful for the support of Cambridge Savings Charitable Foundation,” said Corvelo. “SCES Nutrition programs support independence and combat malnutrition, which is a widespread concern for older adults. We deeply appreciate the Cambridge Savings Charitable Foundation for helping us provide vital assistance for our older neighbors.”

The Cambridge Savings Charitable Foundation is a non-profit charitable foundation that was established by the Cambridge Savings Bank to support human services, affordable housing, and community development. The Foundation has awarded more than $10.5 million in grants since 2003 and has committed to give 6% of the Bank’s earnings to the community.

“We take a great deal of pride in supporting Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services and the amazing work that they do to help enrich the lives of the older adults in our community through the power of health and nutrition.” noted Cambridge Savings Bank CEO Wayne Patenaude.
