Stay Strong – A Fall Prevention Program
This program is a one-on-one in-home program for people who would have difficulty participating in a Fall Prevention Program outside of their home because of mobility and fear of falling. The program is aimed at improving strength and balance to reduce the risk of falls and increase the participant’s ability to safely leave the home. A trained instructor will conduct five home visits to: Teach and demonstration strength and balance exercises that can be done at home, individually, or with the help of a caregiver; Help participants choose an appropriate exercise class in the community, as well as arrange transportation if needed.
Simple Cooking for Your Health
Learn to cook healthy low cost meals that are simple to make and taste great. The program focuses on meals that are heart-healthy, low in saturated fat, and high in fiber. It includes demonstrations and food sampling. Each class meets for 1½ hours once a week for six weeks. The Simple Cooking program has a $10 class fee due at registration. The class fee is waivable for hardship.
